Career Changes
My working life has definitely been varied: from PR to Channel 4's The Big Breakfast and a career in TV production (BBC's Changing Rooms, Ready Steady Cook and Don't Get Done Get Dom, the L!VE TV cable channel, etc), to setting up my own TV business (findatvexpert), working in publishing, training as a Life Coach and setting up my own coaching business. And in the summer of 2026, at the age of 61, I went after - and got - a job as a Broadcast Assistant with the Henley Royal Regatta's TV production team. It was something I really wanted to do when I moved to Henley, and as the Regatta only runs for a week, I could fit it around my coaching. So it was perfect.
It's why I truly believe that when you know what you want, you can take the steps to make it happen, whether it's a new chapter or adventure in midlife, a personal goal or a career change.
Change means stepping outside your comfort zone, though, and you have to consider the impact on finances, family life, relationships and all the other practicalities.
But if you're prepared to put in the groundwork, make the necessary sacrifices, overcome obstacles, ignore the ANTS (Automatic Negative Thoughts) and keep going, you can get from where you are to where you want to be. And coaching can help you every step along the way.
